Rokhaya Fall holds two PhDs in General History and in the history of Black Africa. She is currently Head of the Department of History in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar, Senegal and Head of the Centre for "Women, Societies and Culture" of the doctoral school on Human and Society Studies of the University Cheikh Anta Diop in Dakar. From 2008 to 2010, she was Head of the Department of Humanities of the Fundamental Institute of Black Africa at Cheikh Anta Diop University (IFAN/CAD). She is a lecturer and is interested in Modern and Contemporary History. Her research interests include political history and the issue of ethnic minorities in the ancient kingdoms of northern Senegambia. She has recently shifted focus to the study of women in their socio-political environment, as well as issues related to the slave trade and slavery and global history. Dr Fall was selected, in March 2014, as a member of the committee of historians working in the writing up of the project General History of Senegal.
