Welcome to CODESRIA Newsletter Issue Number 20.
CODESRIA is one of the three top institutions in knowledge production in Africa – so says the Global Go To Think Tank Index 2015 of the University of Pennsylvania (USA) in the recently published 2015 edition of its report ranking think tanks around the world. The study covered 6,846 organizations, and it is the most comprehensive ranking of international think tanks. Around 4,500 expert academics, policymakers, representatives from NGOs, think tanks, and journalists from around the world) were involved in this ranking.

Among the 27 international development think tanks in the world, the report also ranked CODESRIA among the top 15 best in Institutional Collaboration involving two or more think tanks. This achievement is no doubt the result of the untiring efforts of nearly four decades by many people and institutions who have worked with the Council in diverse ways towards fulfilling its mandate, i.e. the development of social science research in Africa.

On the occasion of its 43rd anniversary, CODESRIA organized a round table on “Knowledge Production in Africa” in its premises. The Panel was moderated by Professors Fatou Sow, Abdou Salam Fall and Abderrahmane Ngaide and chaired by Professor Rokhaya Fall, CODESRIA’s Executive Committee member.

In this issue you will find media reports on this event and an interview with Prof. Aminata Diaw Cissé about training in CODESRIA. You will also find our incoming events such as the Open Access Conference. Enjoy your reading.
