As part of activities to mark its 44th anniversary, the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA) organized a round table on 1 February 2017 at its premises in Dakar. With the theme: "From Renaissance to Emergence: Renewing the Development Debates in Africa”, the CODESRIA Day roundtable was moderated by Professor Samir Amin, a founding member of CODESRIA. Speakers at the roundtable included Fatou Kiné Camara, Professor at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar, and President of the Association of Women Lawyers, Moussa Mbaye, Executive Secretary of the international NGO, ENDA Tiers-Monde; Felwine Sarr, Professor at Gaston Berger University in St. Louis, and Dr. Ebrima Sall, Executive Secretary of CODESRIA. Before giving the floor to the panelists, Professor Samir Amin recalled the role of CODESRIA in social science research and the importance of the theme to be discussed.
This meeting recorded the participation of members and supporters of CODESRIA who came to discuss a subject that is of concern to all those concerned about the continent’s future. Members of the Press from various national and international media also took part in this important day of CODESRIA.
