Prof. Mamadou Diouf is the President of the Scientific Committee, an office he assumed in December 2016. Prof. Diouf holds a Ph.D. from the University of Paris-Sorbonne, France. He has held several academic positions, including the Leitner Family Professor of African Studies, Director of Institute for African Studies in Columbia University in the United States, Charles D. Moody Jr. Collegiate Professor of History and African-American Studies at the University of Michigan, and faculty member of History Department of Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar, Senegal. He has also served as the Head of Research Department at CODESRIA. His research interests include urban, political, social and intellectual history in colonial and postcolonial Africa.
