Professor Ruth Iyob Iyob specialises in the study of conflict-resolution, postcolonial citizenship, Diaspora politics and economies of the regions straddling the Afro-Mediterranean and Horn of Africa. She has international recognition for her books on Sudan and Eritrea as well as research on governance, democratisation, gendered citizenship and the international relations of the states of the Horn of Africa.
Prof. Iyob is engaged in developing more nuanced understanding of Africa-centred policy issues and continues to work towards facilitating dialogue on bridging the gap between academics and practitioners. She remains engaged in teaching, research and development of Africa-related curriculum to meet the challenges of the 21stcentury.
Her most recent publications are, Sudan: The Elusive Quest for Peace. (co-authored with Gilbert Khadiagala) and “International Relations in the Horn: Non-Conformity and Defiance” in Quaderni di Relazioni Internazionali, n. 10, Maggio 2009.
