Lloyd M. Sachikonye is a Zimbabwean social scientist based at the Institute of Development Studies, University of Zimbabwe since 1983. His fields of specialization are Political Science as well as Development Studies in a broad sense. He received a M.Sc. from Ahmadu Bello University (1981) and a Ph D from Leeds University (1989) in Politics respectively. My current position is Associate Professor.
His publications have mainly been in Labour Studies including on labour migration but also on Politics of Land Reform. In addition, he has undertaken consultancy work and published on Civil Society and Democratization largely in relation to Southern Africa. Amongst the organizations for which he has undertaken consultancy are the African Union Commission, International Labour Organization, International Institute on Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA) and the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF).
In addition to being a member of several Boards of various research and training organizations, he is also on the Editorial Boards of various journals. These include Africa Development, Review of African Political Economy, Journal of African Elections and Afriche e Orienti.
