The 14th Nairobi International Book Fair comes up between 28 September and 2 October 2011 at the Sarit Centre in Westland, Nairobi, Kenya. The book fair is organized by the Kenya Publishers Association.
The theme of this year’s Nairobi book fair – Read for Empowerment – chosen on the premise that books, whether creative works or factual texts, serve as a reflection of the society from which the writers are drawn, and that society should be able to communicate effectively on issues that confront it, and do so through books, is in line with CODESRIA’s objective of “extending the frontiers of knowledge production and dissemination in Africa”.
During this 2011 edition of this book fair, scholars, researchers, policymakers and others interested in research on Africa will once again have the opportunity to interact with CODESRIA, learn more about our programmes and activities and acquire the Council’s new and old publications.
After the book fair, CODESRIA will be participating in a conference on Book Development in Africa, organized by ADEA’s Working Group on Books and Learning Materials, the focus of which also aligns with the umbrella theme of CODESRIA’s Strategic Plan for 2007–2011: Rethinking Development and Reviving Development Thinking in Africa.
You are all welcome to CODESRIA’s Stand at the 2011 Nairobi International Book Fair. As you are preparing for the fair, visit the publications section of our website.
