CODESRIA at the 9th Nigeria International Book Fair (NIBF 2010): Publishing, Education and the Global Economic Trend (Lagos, 10–15 May, 2010)

Number of visits: 2655

The Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA) is pleased to invite all NIBF 2010 participants to its book exhibition (The Booksellers Limited).

The Nigeria International Book Fair (NIBF) is presently the largest book event in the West African sub-region. With the theme – Publishing, Education and the Global Economic Trend – the 2010 edition’s International Conference would critically examine the roles that publishing and education can play to positively impact on the subsisting global economic trend. The conference holds on Tuesday 11 May, 2010 at the Afe Babalola Auditorium, University of Lagos, venue of the book fair.

The theme of the conference aligns with CODESRIA’s objectives, among which is understanding how higher education systems in Africa have been responding to challenges associated with globalisation. Under the umbrella theme of CODESRIA’s Strategic Plan for 2007-2011 – Rethinking Development and Reviving Development Thinking in Africa – CODESRIA has launched research programmes and published extensively on the role of higher education in Africa’s development.

The NIBF 2010 will afford African scholars, researchers, policymakers and others interested in research on Africa, another opportunity to ask specific and general questions about CODESRIA’s programmes and activities as well as acquire new and old publications that the Council has produced, including the CODESRIA-IDRC co-published African Researchers and Decision-makers and recent issues of Africa Development, the Journal of Higher Education in Africa, Africa Review of Books, CODESRIA Bulletin and other CODESRIA journals.
