Ayemi A. Lawani

Ayemi A. Lawani is an Assistant Professor at the University of Kara in Togo. He previously held various positions in the non-profit and public sectors in the United States and Canada. He received a PhD in Sociology of development from the University of Montreal (Canada), a Master in Public Administration and public policy from the University of Delaware (USA), and a Bachelorโ€™s degree in economics from the University of Lome (Togo). His research is in the field of development studies, with a focus on local non-state actors in both civil society and entrepreneurship. His previous publications have focused on the emergence of civil societies in Africa, and the career paths of civil society activists. His most recent publications focus on youth and womenโ€™s entrepreneurship, and public policy in the field of entrepreneurship. Alongside his research and teaching at the university, he is also involved in various public initiatives in the field of youth entrepreneurship and Togoโ€™s ongoing decentralization process. He has worked with several municipalities in Togo to draw up their development plans, focusing on endogenous resources.ย

Theresa MOYO

Theresa Moyo is a retired Professor. Her last employment was with the University of Limpopo (UL) where she served as a Full Professor in the Master of Development (MDEV) Programme at the Turfloop Graduate School of Leadership (TGSL) in Polokwane City, South Africa. She was with the institution from 2005 to 2022. She holds a BSc Hons (Economics) and M Phil (Economics) degrees from the University of Zimbabwe and MA (Economics) and PhD (Economics) degrees from University of Dalhousie in Canada. One of her major achievements is that she has supervised close to 60 Students who have since graduated with the Master of Development in Planning and Management degree (University of Limpopo) and also co-supervised some PhD students in Uganda. Although she has retired, she is still actively involved in research and publishing particularly on issues of Africaโ€™s development such as, but not limited to industrialization, climate change and gender equality and empowerment of women. She is currently affiliated with Africa Insight, a journal of the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) in South Africa. She is the Deputy Editor.

Isaac Olawale Albert

Isaac Olawale Albert is a Professor of African History, Peace and Conflict Studies at the Institute for Peace and Strategic Studies, University of Ibadan (Nigeria). He is a specialist in security analysis, early warning system, peace process planning, peace education, monitoring and evaluation. He won the CODESRIAโ€™s thesis writing awards in 1992 and 1994 respectively for his MA and doctoral studies at the University of Ibadan. He joined UIโ€™s Institute of African Studies (IAS) in 1993 and became a full Professor in 2006; served as Director of African Studies from 2010 to 2013; the pioneer Director of the Institute for Peace and Strategic Studies (IPSS) from 2015 to 2018, and the pioneer Dean, Faculty of Multidisciplinary Studies 2018 to 2023. He has published extensively on issues relating to peace and security in Africa and currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the African Journal on Terrorism based at the African Unionโ€™s Centre for the Study and Research on Terrorism (Algiers, Algeria).ย 

Therese F. AZENG

Therese F. Azeng is native of Cameroon. She works as Head of the Research and Publications Division at the University of Bertoua (Cameroon). She also lectures in the Department of Economic Analysis and Policy of the University of Yaoundรฉ 2 (Cameroon). She holds a PhD in Public Economics. Her research focuses on Peace and security, Democratic governance, and Development Economics with a particular blend on the economic analysis of armed conflict. She authored papers on the role of youth unemployment in political instability, the causes of violent extremism and the macroeconomic effects of armed violence. Her current interest is on the climate change, environmental crime and armed conflict nexus in the Basin of Congo and the Lake Chad Basin. She is a member of CODESRIA since 2007; and numerous other think tanks worldwide. From 2019 to 2021, she was the coordinator of the Scientific Network of Academic Women in Management and Economics (RรฉSFUGE). She combined 17 years of policy-oriented research and fieldwork practice experiences within Africa.ย
