Affliation: African Feminist Research Initiative for Advocacy and Development (AFRAD)

Discipline: Gender Studies

Country / Pays: Uganda

Project Title / Titre du projet: Feminist Indigenous Knowledge and Climate Resilience: Community Led Adaptation Strategies by Women in Rural Uganda.

Biographie / Biography: I am currently Associate Director at AFRAD (African Feminist Research Initiative for Advocacy and Development), a feminist research and advocacy organization based in Kampala, Uganda. In this role, I lead and coordinate research, policy engagement, and advocacy initiatives across AFRAD’s thematic areas, including gender equality, climate action, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), and movement building.
My responsibilities include designing and managing research projects, conducting data analysis, and ensuring that findings are translated into actionable policy recommendations. I also oversee the development of digital and community engagement strategies, mentorship of junior staff, and collaboration with partners, civil society organizations, and local communities. A key part of my work is centering indigenous and local knowledge systems, ensuring that community voices and lived experiences inform all advocacy and development interventions.
Additionally, I contribute to building AFRAD’s organizational capacity, supporting fundraising and grant writing, and representing AFRAD in national and regional forums. I actively participate in knowledge-sharing networks, conferences, and policy dialogues to advance feminist research and evidence-based advocacy across Uganda and the wider African context.
Through this engagement, I combine research, policy, and activism to drive equitable social change and strengthen feminist leadership and community driven solutions across Africa.
