The Diaspora Project seeks to mobilise the African academic diaspora to support African universities and strengthen linkages between African academics in the diaspora and their counterparts in African universities. The Project supports African diaspora academics to visit African universities and undertake academic activities aimed at strengthening teaching and research in the social sciences, humanities and higher education studies. The specific activities are defined by the diaspora academics and host African universities.

It also supports Multi-National Research Networks involving African and diaspora academics and assists doctoral students in the College of Senior Academic Mentors.
