Project Title / Titre du projet: Formalizing the Informal: Indigenous Entrepreneurship, State Policy and the Future of the Igbo Apprenticeship System (Igba Boyi) in Nigeria

Biographie / Biography: Ugwunnadi Charles Chukwudi is currently a PhD candidate in Philosophy at Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda. His primary responsibility is conducting doctoral research on the philosophical and ethical implications of state regulation of same-sex intimacy in Nigeria, with particular attention to the Same-Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act, 2014, and indigenous restorative justice frameworks. He undertakes conceptual analysis, policy critique, and qualitative engagement with indigenous moral traditions, including Igbo notions of Ikpu Alu (Reintegrative Shaming and cleansing) and community-based reintegration. He is also responsible for academic writing, conference presentations, and peer-reviewed publication. In addition, he engages in knowledge dissemination through public scholarship, mentoring students, and participating in interdisciplinary research conversations on African philosophy, indigenous knowledge systems, and public policy reform.
