Digital Object Identifier prefix for all CODESRIA journals

The Council writes to inform members that CODESRIA has now acquired Digital Object Identifier (DOI) prefix for all its journals. As a result, all CODESRIA journals and associated articles, beginning with those in Africa Development, Journal of Higher Education in Africa, and CODESRIA Bulletin will be assigned a DOI number by CODESRIA effective October 2022. This will not only improve CODESRIA’s ability to identify and archive its digital publications, but it will also make the collection of relevant metrics easier. The DOI will also provide the necessary credibility to many of our journal articles, many of which will be published online before the final hard copy version is published. This action has been necessitated by the increased submission of articles to our journals since 2021. Rather than keeping the articles in a queue awaiting assignment to the full final publication, the Council will first publish them online with the DOI as confirmation of the volume in which the article will appear. We hope that this will help members of the community who need their articles published promptly for a variety of reasons, including those related to professional development.
