Project Title / Titre du projet: Documenting Women’s Indigenous Knowledge through Participatory Documentary Film in Egypt

Biographie / Biography: I am currently an Assistant Professor of Mass Communication at the Canadian International College (CIC), where I teach undergraduate courses in research methods, digital media, documentary production, public opinion, and development communication. My teaching integrates critical perspectives on gender, inequality, and community engagement, and emphasizes the ethical and social responsibilities of media practitioners.
In addition to my academic role, I am the Founder and Manager of the Media Impact Lab – MENA Region, a research and advocacy platform that designs and implements projects on youth empowerment, gender equality, media literacy, and conflict-sensitive communication. Through the Lab, I coordinate participatory research initiatives, capacity-building programs, and multi-stakeholder dialogues that connect academic knowledge with community realities.
I am currently a grant recipient under Cycle 8 of the Small Grants Programme (SGP-Cycle 1: AI: Technology, Society and Learning in the Arab Region) of the Arab Council for the Social Sciences (ACSS), where I am conducting research on the social and educational implications of artificial intelligence in the Arab context. This project further strengthens my experience in interdisciplinary and policy-relevant research.
I also work as a freelance gender research and evaluation consultant, collaborating with civil society organizations on projects related to women’s economic empowerment, media monitoring, and inclusive development. I serve on the editorial boards of peer-reviewed journals and actively contribute to regional and international research networks. Across these roles, my work is driven by a commitment to producing socially relevant knowledge, strengthening feminist leadership, and advancing evidence-based approaches to social justice and sustainable development.
