My academic trajectory is defined by a commitment to centering African epistemologies and indigenous knowledge systems within theological and religious scholarship. I have further strengthened my research capacity through certifications in Data Collection & Analysis (SPSS, Excel), Monitoring & Evaluation, and Project Management, equipping me with the mixed-methods toolkit required for community-engaged, ethical research.
My institutional affiliation is with the University of Malawi, located in Zomba City, Malawi, where I serve as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Theology and Religious Studies since 2022. In this role, I facilitate tutorials, supervise undergraduate research, and contribute to curriculum development in courses on African Traditional Religion and Systematic Theology. I am also a registered Master’s candidate within the same department, conducting thesis research under the university’s supervision. My academic work and research are formally anchored within this institution, which provides the scholarly foundation and ethical framework for my community-engaged research on indigenous knowledge systems.
My primary and formal professional engagement is as an Assistant Lecturer within the Department of Theology and Religious Studies at the University of Malawi. In this substantive academic role, I hold direct teaching and mentorship responsibilities for undergraduate students pursuing degrees in theology and religious studies. I am specifically tasked with facilitating tutorials, leading seminar discussions, and delivering instructional support for core courses including African Traditional Religion, Systematic Theology, and African Christianity. A critical component of my duties involves the design, administration, and grading of formative and summative assessments, through which I provide detailed, constructive feedback aimed at enhancing student comprehension, critical thinking, and academic writing proficiency.
Beyond routine instruction, I play a key role in undergraduate research supervision, guiding students through the entire research lifecycle, from topic formulation and literature review to methodological design, ethical considerations, data analysis, and final write-up. This mentorship is particularly focused on projects exploring indigenous belief systems, contextual theologies, and the socio-religious landscape of Malawi, thereby fostering a new generation of scholars equipped to engage with African epistemologies. I also actively contribute to departmental activities, including curriculum review meetings and academic planning sessions, where I advocate for the deeper integration of African Traditional Religion and decolonial perspectives into the program’s framework.
