I have relevant experience in research and community engagement involving indigenous and local knowledge systems. My academic work has engaged with community-based health practices, particularly the documentation and analysis of traditional medicinal plant use in Nigerian settings. This includes interactions with local herbal practitioners and community members to understand indigenous approaches to diabetes management, wound healing, and health maintenance.
I have also participated in field-based data collection that values local knowledge holders as key informants, using qualitative approaches such as interviews and purposive sampling to capture culturally grounded perspectives. Through these engagements, I have developed sensitivity to ethical issues surrounding indigenous knowledge, including respect for cultural context, informed consent, and responsible knowledge representation.
In addition, my research interests align with interdisciplinary approaches that integrate biomedical science with indigenous knowledge and experience, especially in understanding how traditional health practices coexist with formal healthcare systems in African communities.
