
Professor Negash is a historian who, since 2005, has been at the College of Social Science, Addis Ababa University. He currently holds the position of Associate Professor and his research interests focus on the Ogaden Region and socio-economic aspects. He is the author of, among other publications, ‘Colonial Legacy, State Interven-tion and Secessionism: Paradoxical National Identities of the Ogaden and Ishaq Clans in Ethiopia’ in Society, State and Identity in African History (2008); ‘Fundamental Causes of the Ethio-Somalia Conflicts and Wars’ in Amharic published in a special issue of WITNESS (2012); and ‘Ethiopia’s Elusive Quest for an Outlet to the Sea: The Case of Haud- Zeila Exchange’ (Proceedings of the 18th International Conference of Ethiopian Studies) (2013). He is currently preparing a chapter with the title: ‘Ambivalence in the Ogaden Secessionism: An Historical Overview of an Externally-propelled “Nationalist” Aspiration
