Biographie / Biography: My name is Silass Weldegebriel Tewldemedihn. I am a Lecturer in the Department of History and Heritage Management at Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia. Born in 1991, I represent the rising generation of African female scholars dedicated to decolonizing heritage narratives. I hold an MA in Tourism and Development studies and a BA in History, a dual background that allows me to analyze cultural heritage through both a historical and an economic lens.
My research expertise focuses on the intersection of gender, indigenous knowledge (IK), and sustainable livelihoods. I am particularly interested in reclaiming the marginalized narratives of the Negede Woyto women in Northern Ethiopia, investigating how their unique creative traditions such as the production of the Moseb can be transformed into recognized economic assets. Proficient in qualitative field methods and SPSS quantitative analysis, I am uniquely positioned to bridge the gap between indigenous knowledge-bearers and formal policymaking
