Brahim El Morchid Professor of Political Economy in the Department of Economics at Cadi Ayyad University, Marrakech. He holds a PhD in Economics, a PhD in the same discipline and university degree in Quantitative Techniques. He is an expert evaluator for the CNRST (Centre National de Recherche Scientifique et Technique) and a member of the scientific committee of the Marrakech Law Faculty. He is also a member of the scientific committee of the journal Istichraf, published by the Centre Arabe de Recherche et d’Etudes Politiques in Doha, Qatar, and of the journal des mutations en Afrique, published by the Economic Commission for Africa. El Morchid’s teaching and research focus on institutional economics, development economics and public policy. A significant part of his research work is devoted to the economies of Africa and the Arab world. Author and co-author of numerous texts published in scientific journals and collective works, he has also contributed to several international research projects focusing on reforms and the use of social science research. He recently co-edited a book with Elhoucine Chougrani entitled “Migration and human rights: economic costs, security policy issues and the closing of borders”.
